British Columbia (BC) Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP)

The BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) offers an economic immigration pathway for in demand foreign workers and experienced entrepreneurs who can contribute economically to the province.

Individuals nominated by the BC PNP are eligible to apply to Immigrate to Canada for permanent residence for themselves and their dependants.

BC PNP accepts application in two main streams,

  • Skills Immigration
  • Entrepreneur Immigration

Skills Immigration

  • Skilled Worker –Under this category individual must have minimum two years of directly related full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in the skilled occupation that has been offered to you (job offer must be valid), and, if applicable, the credentials and qualification requirements of the position.
  • Semi skilled / Entry level –Under this category individualhave to be currently working in BC in an eligible occupation in the tourism/hospitality, long-haul trucking or food processing industry (For Semi Skilled The requirement for 9 months of full-time employment on a valid work permit in B.C. at the time of registration in order to qualify).
  • Health Care Professional Category - Under this category individual with experience and eligible job offers, as physicians, nurses, psychiatric nurses or allied health professionals may apply. An eligible job offer must be acquired for one of 11 qualifying health occupations.
  • International Graduate Category -This category is for individuals who have graduated from an eligible Canadian university or college in the last two years. A job offer must be obtained from a BC employer to be eligible under this sub-category.
  • International Post-Graduate Category -This category is for graduates with Masters or Doctoral degrees from an eligible educational institution in British Columbia in the natural, applied, or health sciences programs of study. No job offer is required to apply under this sub-category

Express Entry BC

You must meet all of the following EEBC requirements to receive priority processing of your permanent residence application. You must:

  • meet the criteria for at least one of the federal economic immigration programs subject to IRCC’s Express Entry system
  • Obtain an IRCC Express Entry Profile Number and a Job Seeker Validation Code, and indicate your interest in immigrating to B.C.
  • receive a nomination under one of the BC PNP’s EEBC categories

If you are interested in applying to the BC PNP under an EEBC category, you need to ensure that you meet the minimum criteria for boththe relevant BC PNP category as well as one of the eligible federal economic immigration programs.

You must meet the minimum criteria for one of the categories under the Express Entry BC stream:

Express Entry BC – Skilled Worker
Express Entry BC – Health Care Professional
Express Entry BC - International Graduate
Express Entry BC - International Post Graduate

All EEBC categories, with the exception of EEBC – International Post-Graduate, require a valid offer of indeterminate, full-time employment from a B.C. employer

Entrepreneur Immigration

  • Entrepreneur Category -This category is for senior managers or business owners who intend to invest funds into a proposed business in British Columbia.
  • Strategic Projects Category – Under this program, foreign-controlled companies can set up an operation in British Columbia. Maximum up to five key foreign managerial, professional or technical staff members can be nominated for permanent residence in the province.
